Investigations of phosphonate-containing impregnating agents for their fire retardancy in beech and birch wood

Interior components in rail vehicles must meet defined fire protection requirements. The corresponding DIN EN 45545-2 has been revised in 2020 and new fire protection requirements were added for the component classes. In order to achieve these requirements, the joint project “FlamenCo” (FKZ: 2222HV031A-D) is developing an impregnating agent containing phosphonate and corresponding fire protection varnish for wooden interior components.

In this study the fire retardancy of six different phosphonate-containing impregnating agents was investigate for beech and birch wood.
