In this study, we prepared stable aqueous nanocomposite emulsions containing different concentrations of cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) and poly butyl methacrylate matrix via a one-step surfactant-free Pickering emulsion polymerisation process. This approach is relatively simple and allows the design of complex structures involving both solid particles attachment and polymerization in one step. The emulsions were used to impregnate wood samples and the properties of the coated surfaces were evaluated.
